Larry
Sax, EWI & Vocals

A SoCal native, Larry was born with music in his soul, if not quite a sax in his mouth. While growing up listening to a vintage tube-driven AM radio and his folks’ record collection, Larry was exposed to a wide variety of music at an early age. By 11 he began learning the clarinet and saxophone. In the years since, Larry has added flute, piano, and a synth-based instrument called the EWI (your pronunciation may vary) to his musical trick bag. Yet through it all, his first love continues to be the sax.

Larry’s appreciation of all things musical stems from an eclectic mix of influences ranging from Stanley Turrentine, Grover Washington Jr. and Tubby Hayes, to Oscar Peterson and Joey DeFrancesco. Over the years, Larry has performed and recorded with such artists as Pete Christlieb, Bill Watrous, Tom Kubis and Eric Marienthal.

With his strong jazz background, Larry is comfortable playing virtually any style of music. A number-cruncher by day, Larry’s equally at home with a spreadsheet as he is with sheet music.
