Funkin' A formed in late 2008 and consists of a strong lead vocalist, two guitars, bass, sax, keyboards, and drums. Everyone sings background vocals, allowing the band to cover a wide range of funky hits.

This is not your father's bar band, content to simply play the same tired, hackneyed wedding songs as every other band. The Funkin' A songbook is both vocally and instrumentally challenging and includes popular danceable workouts by James Brown, Average White Band, The Meters, Tower of Power, Sly & the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder and many other classic R&B/soul artists.

The band members are all veterans of the Orange County & L.A. music scenes, with decades of experience. Many have performed over the years with a diverse array of top talent, sharing the stage or studio with luminaries such as The English Beat, Jimmy Cliff, Allan Holdsworth, Eddie Money, David Lee Roth, Leon Russell, Santana alumni, Poncho Sanchez, The Selector, Social Distortion, Top Jimmy, and The Untouchables.
